Skerries, a picturesque and historic seaside town lying on east coast of Ireland, only 35 minutes from Dublin, is a real gem for the day tripper and tourist wanting to step back a space. With the only west facing harbour on the east coast, Skerries enjoys spectacular sunsets and is awash with pubs and restaurants. Even in winter there is something quietly romantic and atmospheric about this lovely fishing village - hole up in one of the cosy pubs by a roaring fireside as the wind and rain lash outside and enjoy one of the many music sessions available.
