Things To Do
Feel the sand between your toes on long sandy beaches.
Take a bracing walk on Red Island Scenic Park with views of the
offshore islands and the Mountains of Mourne to the North. The frequent sight
of the local colony of grey seals bobbing in the water off the head is always a pleasant
surprise.
The main attractions for most visitors are the famous Skerries Mills, an award-winning project, which is extremely proud of it's
restored (and working) windmills with guided tours, craft
shop and tearoom. The mills are also host to both regular local art exhibitions and a weekly farmers market which offers local fresh produce, and is well worth a visit - if only to get a taste of some of the delicious samples on offer!!!
Ardgillan castle offers stunning coastal views,
fabulous gardens and an adventure playground. An amusement
arcade opens year round and a mini funfair in the summer months
offer further family diversions.
For Sports enthusiasts... there is a championship golf
course, a sailing club which host both national and world sailing
events and, every year, the famous TT motorbike road races come to Skerries
and are attended by thousands.
Night clubs and comedy nights, music sessions and a good selection of pubs - both
trendy and traditional offer a plenty of choice for
evening entertainment... And of course, the smells, sounds,
and sight of the sea is never ever too far away.
